Paul Mitchell- Cruelty Free Shampoo. A Review

I bought the color care shampoo and the strengthening conditioner. Paul Mitchell is an animal friendly brand and currently has the PETA and The Leaping Bunny cruelty free, does not test on our cuddly companions stamp of approval.

First the shampoo: I bought it on sale for $9 in Bed Bath & Beyond.   Participating in a normal shower routine, I reached for the Paul Mitchell Color Care Shampoo.  My first impression is that the smell isn't strong at all, it's pleasant but faint.  I pour a decent to average amount in my hand and go to work only to find my tools appear to be broken and my tools are not my hands.

I like suds and they are no where to be found.
I worked frantically to get a soapy lather but in the end  I had to go back twice for more shampoo to get even a small lather.

For me this first date was not going well, the introductory impressions left me very much underwhelmed. As an aside I had two day old hair that I wet through thoroughly before attempting to wash. My scalp and head did feel clean but I was left feeling a bit cheated using this. It's expensive,  I'm cheap and I really don't want to have to grab the bottle two more times to get some soapy suds to wash the two day old gremlin right outta my hair.  This is a no no for me.

And the conditioner:

I followed the shampoo with Paul Mitchell Strengthening Conditioner.   This
smells really nice and at $13 a bottle (Bed Bath & Beyond) I used a small to normal blob in my hand.    It spread through well and I left it in for 2 - 3 mins then rinsed my hair thoroughly.  However on this occasion my mane did not comb through easily, it was tangled and slightly knotty.  I was not ready for any type of show casing, horse or otherwise, but with that said  I don't mind this conditioner, my hair smelled nice. It definitely wasn't silky, soft or superb by any means.

Another note: on day two after using the shampoo and conditioner I had an itchy scalp and my hair felt greasier than normal.

My general consensus on this shampoo is I won't be buying it again and as for the conditioner... meh ....  I'm not convinced either.   They run a little on the expensive side for me not to be delighted about my hair following their use.

The L'Oreal Ever Pure line is still in first place for me with Kevin.Murphy a close second. My choice of Paul Mitchell products may not have been suitable for my hair and scalp; it is worth investigating further if you like the brand.
