For all the vegetarians....wash yourself with cruelty free "Yes to Carrots"....A review

Be Cruelty Free (not tested on animals)
  • Yes to Carrots body wash
  • OGX beauty pure and simple -Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner
  • OGX beauty pure and simple -Quenched Sea Mineral Conditioner
To say that this body wash was put to the test and had a lot of work to do is an understatement. My attempt at a greener lifestyle with particular respect to this new found no deodorant or antiperspirant way is leaving a lot to be desired in an olfactory scents. It is now Day 16 and I'm wondering if my body is ever going to regulate itself.  Day 15 was a stinker.   I left the room with people wondering was there onion soup being served up somewhere...  anywhere?!

Back to today

"Yes to Carrots" comes in a little expensive at $8.49 bought in Bed, Bath &
Beyond (available from Boots Ireland, Target and other retailers).  I picked it up rooting for it to be amazing.  It didn't disappoint.  It soaps up well, either from a lather in your hand, with a loofah or the "little weird glove thing" as so called by my husband and it didn't dry out my skin.  It smells really nice and not like real carrots as it says it does, which I was grateful for.  I started my shower routine which is, hair first, then condition and while the conditioner is doing it's thing I wash the body. I am not delusional to think that anybody cares about my routine but you'll understand my setting the scene should you continue reading if you haven't already fallen into a catatonic coma with this riveting review.

Standing there water already running since stage 1. Hair, I reach for the carrot stuff, let stage 2. Body, commence. What I encounter is a glued on claspy white seal thing that I now have to wrestle with.  I was not prepared for this. With slippy hands and a kind of bendy not that strong nail I try and fail to rip the tiny white sticker from the lid.  Ok now I go to war armed with my teeth trying to bite it from the lid.   I'm starting to panic a little as the lovely California water that is becoming unicorn-y rare is dancing at my feet and running down the drain, all the while I continue to try and work out the passcode that is needed to open this bottle.  Despaired I turn the lid and take off the big top.  Now I'm in danger of pouring too much on to my little weird glove thing and at $8.49 a bottle that scares me.

I don't spill a drop and the overall wash experience is a success. My issue with this is that they are pricey enough carrots, don't ya think? But I am a happy clean onion free camper with the certified cruelty free stamp.  I shall continue to use (sparingly).  I say "Yes" to carrots.

Another fine follicle test

OGX beauty pure and simple (available from Bed, Bath & Beyond, CVS, Target, Boots Ireland and Tesco Ireland)

A cleverer me bought both the shampoo and conditioner this time for $5.99 each. My aim was to have another free from animal testing shampoo & conditioner choice that can be easily purchased at a supermarket.  As said before I'm a little thirsty in the hair department like the state I live in so I chose the coconut milk shampoo and conditioner to keep my tresses nourished and moisturised with protein.  This smells like it should and is a fine shampoo and conditioner. My overall conclusion is, the follicles feel a little fuzzy, frizzy and not at all fantastic-y and there seems to be a slight residue left over. When I run my fingers through my hair I can hear it.  This is a little weird. It sounds and feels elastic-y. Now I'm not one to ever really blame myself but there is a high probability that I bought the wrong choice of OGX shampoo & conditioner.  I may need a different type. They have a huge range available.

My hair certainly looks good but without the same shine it did with L'Oreal Ever Pure.  I like this product but definitely don't love it.
As a loyal lapdog, I will try the other OGX options to see if they are worth it like the "quenched, sea mineral moisture" choice (review below). I'm desperate for an affair from L'Oreal Ever Pure, (previously reviewed), if just for a little rendezvous every now and then.

Overall this shampoo & conditioner for me is a bit "meh".  I will use it again but would I buy it again? Hmmmm I'm not so sure.  I will definitely give it another chance to see.  It's highly possible I'm love sick and influenced by the same brand's sophisticated sister, OGX Kukui Oil which I think is the best. (As previously reviewed)
*As an addition to the above review I feel it necessary to give an update on the OGX Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner.  My hair feels and looks great on day 2 without a need to wash it. So there - that may swing the undecided voter. Happy hunting.. no wait.. no hunting.. happy searching.

 **Addition
Following the use of Ogx beauty pure and simple Conditioner ($5.99 on sale at CVS, also available at Target, Ralphs, Tesco Ireland, Boots Ireland and other retailers) "Quenched, Sea Mineral conditioner" my hair feels soft, clean and looks very shiny.  I am much happier with this option, thus proving my initially thoughts correct, I made the wrong choice for my hair in the first place. This conditioner has a clear, oceany, clean scent which is not overly strong. The results are shown in the pictures.
